Transition in Leadership:

As many of you know, my family and I are moving to Pennsylvania in two weeks where I will be working for the office that supports the New Church Schools around the world as the Assistant Coordinator of New Church Schools. For a number of reasons, the decision was made for me to leave in March which is going to mean a transition of leadership mid-school year.  Mr. Phil Parker, teacher of grades 5-8, will be taking on the position for the remainder of this school year and on in to the new school year. Phil has effectively  lead the school as principal before. I have full confidence in his ability to lead the school, support the students and parents, and continue to teach, as well.

Rev. Jay Barry is also moving this month out east. It has been a pleasure for us to get to know Jay over the last three years. His warmth and gentle teaching of the children has been a pleasure to see. We wish him well in his new venture.  Rev. Mark Pendleton is now the new head pastor for the New Church.

I have taught and led here at the Glenview  New Church School for 25 years.  The opportunity to work with the team to offer our families not just a fine academic program, but one that gives the children an opportunity to learn about the Lord and His Word and to bring what they are learning to life as they grow into useful outward looking young people has been a tremendous privilege. I have enjoyed getting to know the students and their families over the years.  While I am leaving employ of this school, my work for General Church Education will allow me to stay in touch and continue supporting the school year.

I will be in the office working until Wednesday, March 16 after which Phil will be in charge.

With warmth and appreciation,

Rebekah

From the Principal:

Happy February to you all! I hope you take some time to read the events above, as we have some special activities, days off, and field trips for you to be aware of. It’s a busy month here at GNCS!

We had a fun Religious program and luncheon last week. Each student or class learned about a spiritual leader in history from all different faiths who have helped the Lord to shepherd and teach people how to live good lives. Mother Teresa, Confucius, Pope Francis, Buddha, Martin Luther, Emanuel Swedenborg, Mohammed, Jesus (the Lord on earth), and Moses were some of the leaders we learned about. Many thanks to Brannon Smith, Evelyn’s dad, for cooking and organizing the tasty lunch. We also appreciated our parent and grandparent and senior friends who were able to join us.

By now, you have received re-enrollment materials for the 2016-2017 school year. Parents of younger students have an opportunity to tour and informally  visit with the teachers for next year in the younger grades on Monday night at 6:30 PM. We hope you come to look around the classrooms, meet the teachers, and ask any questions you may have.

Re-enrollment forms due March 1:  We hope to have re-enrollment complete by March 1st this year for planning purposes. Applications for financial aid can take place any time on the FACTS portal.

Open House: On February 8th, the school will be opening up its doors for an Open House to show off our teachers, our classrooms and our fantastic grounds.  We will be holding open house sessions in the morning from  10:30 am - 12:00 pm and in the evening from 5:30 pm - 6:30 pm.  This is a great opportunity for you to invite your friends to see our wonderful school.  The most effective way for our school to grow is through word of mouth.  Tell your friends what you genuinely love about this school and invite them to come see for themselves.  Here are the details of our event:
